Kasaragod, July 27: Hosadurga police have arrested five persons for shouting provocative slogans during the protest rally held at Kanhangad organised by Muslim Youth League to condemn the violent incidents in Manipur.
Abdul Salam (18), Sharif (38), P H Ayub (45) and P Mohammed Kunhi (55) are among those who have been arrested. Police said that non-bailable cases have been registered against them.
The protest rally was held two days ago. The police have taken action on the basis of complaints received pertaining to their sloganeering.

“The police have kept a close watch on social networks such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram etc. after they received complaints of provocative messages being posted in them," said district SP Dr Vaibhav Saxena.
"Non-bailable cases will be filed if such messages come to the notice of the police,” he warned.
“A special team has been formed to watch the social media networks. Action will be taken against all those who spread provocative messages including the admin, Two cases in this connection have been registered. Five individuals who spread messages have been arrested and remanded to judicial custody. Action to arrest the remaining accused is in progress,” he said.
