Mangaluru, Jul 29: The city crime branch (CCB) police arrested two old convicts for illegally possessing a pistol.
The police took the two into custody after definite information that they were roaming on a bike holding a firearm without licence at Oddidakala, Bajpe. Both of them have been residing at Manjeshwar at present.
The arrested are identified as Abbas alias Bedi Abbas (61), a resident of Hosa Hithilu, Balepuni House, Ira, Ullal and Yashwanth Kumar (45) from Gurupriya Iris Apartment, Kuthar.
The police have confiscated a pistol, two mobile phones and a motorcycle from them. The total value of the goods seized from them is approximately Rs 1,45,000. A case in this connection is registered at Bajpe police station.
A case of assault in Manjeshwar police station limits and a case under Excise Act had been registered against Abbas. A case of assault at Mangaluru south police station limits, another case of assault at Manjeshwar police station limits, a case under Excise Act at Kumble police station limits and a case of murder were registered at Badiadka police station against accused Yashwanth Kumar.
CCB unit police inspector Shyamsunder H M, sub inspector Rajendra B, Sudeep M V, Sharanappa Bhandary, Narendra, ASI Mohan K V and CCB staff took part in the arrest operation.
