Mangaluru, Jul 30: The electrical rail engine did a successful run between Padil and Puttur, the electrification of which has been done recently.
On Friday, the engine did trial run of the 46-km stretch route. The engine which left Padil at 2.30 pm reached Kabaka Puttur at 4 pm. Jaipal Singh, chief engineer of south western railway led the trial run.
Certificate of fitness of the track will be awarded shortly for the route. Electrification work in this route began in September 2022. Work on the electrification of the Kabaka Puttur-Subramanya Road (48 km) is going on at full swing. It is expected to get completed by October year. Electrification of Hassan and Subramanya Road will take some more time according to railway officials.
In July 2021, contract of electrification of train route of Mysuru-Hassan-Mangaluru (300 km) was given an approval which included the Arasikere-Hassan route of 47 km as well.
