Mangaluru: Medical student falls to death from fifth floor of apartment building at Kadri

Mangaluru, Jul 31: In a tragic incident that occurred on Sunday in an apartment at Kadri Shivbagh, a medical student fell to death from the fifth floor.

The deceased is identified as Samay (21), a native of Adyar, residing presently at Kadri Shivbagh. Samay was reading in the balcony of the house when his mother asked him to go to basement in order to wash the car. Later, Samay was conversing with his mother from the fifth floor balcony. When he bent over to speak, he fell down to the ground floor. Though he was rushed to hospital, he could not be saved. It is learnt that the floor in the balcony was wet due to rain water.

Samay’s father is a civil engineer and mother, a housewife. Samay was the elder one of the two sons the couple have.

A case is registered in Kadri police station.

    Tragic and very sad.Sure mother will not forget first of all it ended tragic and sad..Second her own blood and flesh.Third she asked him the favour to wash the car and it ended tragic.Heartfelt sympathy to the family.May his soul rest in peace.Simply it is the fete coincidence?It shouldnt have happened .From fifth floor to basement one hears very bad.Kindly put a strong Balkon railing so that in future dont happen such a tragic

    just cannot imagine what the mother goes through...seeing her own off spring falling from such a height and dying...during monsoon one should be more careful...really tragic...

    If the height of the parapet was adequately supported by metal railings on top there was no chance of him toppling off even if he slipped; in third world countries, with no proper regulations, such things happen!

    RIP; very very unfortunate and tragic! In many buildings, the parapet wall is not of the required height, also there is no protective metal railing above it so that such calamities be avoided; otherwise, there is remote possibility of such a matured youngster to topple over unless he used a stool!!

    So sad to hear this news. Why people are so careless that in such heights can not even put a safety grills or at least pegion nets? is the money spent on this costlier than losing life? This is the basic safety measure to be taken by all. No matter how much we are confident that we will not fall but nothing will cost to put these basic safety measures.
