Mangalore: New ZP CEO Aims at Improving Administrative Machinery

Mangalore, Aug 2: Dr K N Vijay Prakash, who was able to make an impact while working as the commissioner of the city corporation here since the last two years, took charge as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat on Monday August 1.
Vijay Prakash, who holds postgraduate degree in personnel management and industrial relations, secured his PhD from Mangalore University. He had worked for five years as lecturer in the department of commerce and business administration of this university.
He joined Karnataka Administrative Services in 1987-88, and worked as tahsildar, taluk panchayat executive officer, municipal commissioner, personal secretary of the minister for water resources and municipal administration.
He has also functioned as the managing director of Karnataka State Backward Classes Development Corporation and Minorities Development Corporation, director of rural energy programme, and as the personal secretary for minister, J Krishna Palemar.
Speaking to reporters immediately after taking charge of his new post, he said his priority will be ensuring integrated development of rural areas, effective implementation of programmes by ensuring their end use, and maintaining transparency in administration. Noting that a number of villages in the district are facing shortage of clean drinking water, proper roads etc, he said he will try to get more funds sanctioned for these projects from the government.
“Besides improving basic amenities, my emphasis will be on identification of areas that have not covered under total sanitation programme, and implement this programme there” he stated. He said he will need some time to make the administration run as per the expectations of the people and to make the offices people-friendly.
Towards this end, the new CEO plans to undertake surprise raids, take measures to improve the working of the administrative machinery, and seek full support and cooperation from the people’s representatives and officials.
Udupi: New ZP CEO Takes Over Charge

Udupi, Aug 2: S A Prabhakar Sharma took over as the new chief executive officer of Udupi zilla panchayat on Monday August 1.
Hitherto, Sharma was functioning as the additional deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district since some. He also worked as the subdivisional officer in Shimoga, Mangalore, and Kundapur in the past. One of his previous postings was as the land acquisition officer for Konkan Railway project.
