Bengaluru, Jul 31: Investigating officers have unearthed that the mastermind of the pressure cooker blast that occurred in November 2022 at Nagori in Mangaluru is Afsar Pasha of Lashkar-E-Taiba terrorist organization.
An investigating officer said that Pasha trained the accused in the case on preparing cooker bombs. Pasha, who was in prison in Bangladesh earlier, had trained the accused in the blast when they were in prison in Karnataka. Now it has come to light that the now-banned PFI transferred Rs five lac to the bank account of Pasha. The police have prepared a comprehensive report based on the information provided by Pasha and the same is shared with intelligence agencies.
Pasha was brought to Bengaluru in connection with the inquiry of threatening calls made by Jayesh Poojary to union minister Nitin Gadkari. Now Pasha is lodged in Nagpur central jail.
He had trained accused Mohammed Shariq, accused in Mangaluru cooker bomb blast case. The cooker bomb got blasted in an auto-rickshaw in which the accused was travelling on November 19, 2022.
Pasha was found guilty of recruiting terrorists for Lashkar-E-Taiba in Jammu and Kashmir in 2012. It is said that he also took part in the terrorist attack that occurred at Indian Institute of Sciences in Bengaluru in 2005.
