Yeddyurappa Moves Court Against Lokayukta Report

Bangalore, Aug 2 (IANS): Outgoing Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa Tuesday moved the high court against Lokayukta N. Santosh Hegde's recommendation to try him for graft. He also moved the ombudsman to reconsider his recommendation.

The high court is likely to hear the petition Wednesday while the petition to the Lokayukta will have to be considered by Hegde's successor, Shivaraj Patil who will assume office Wednesday.

"Hegde told us that since his term ends today (Tuesday) he will leave a note to the successor to consider the petition," Yeddyurappa's political secretary B.J. Puttaswamy told reporters here.

In both the petitions, Yeddyurappa has contented that the Lokayukta has gone beyond the terms of reference to probe illegal mining.

He has also not given any opportunity to Yeddyurappa to hear his version and hence the recommendation to try him for graft was against principles of natural justice, Puttaswamy said, quoting the petition.

In his report on illegal mining in the state, Hegde found that Prerana Education and Social Trust run by Yeddyurappa's two sons had received donation of Rs.10 crore from a mining company.

The company had also paid the two sons exorbitant price of Rs.20 crore to buy an acre of land near Bangalore from them. The market price was for the land was just over Rs.1 crore.

Yeddyurppa said in his petition to the Lokayukta that he had no connection with the trust run by his sons and had not favoured the mining company in any way because of its dealings with the trust and for buying the one acre land, Puttaswamy said.

Eddy has not denied the fact of trust run by his sons which is favoured by the mining company. So he is right in saying he is not involved directly. It is as simple as that he can accept any amount through his daughters, sons and son in laws and the law cannot take action on him.He has tried to fool all people at all the times.I wish Eddy go Tihar jail with CBI enquiry.

Mr.C.M.u done good .If Hegde is loyal to the state why he is not disclosed the things earlier. In his report he told that since 2000 this mining is going on his duty is to drag the then CM's name in the report. Now we can think that the report is mainly based on the P.M.influence

The GAME has just begun to stifle the truth as our antiquated laws would always found wanting in punishing the wealthy, mighty & corrupt.
For the same reason we want Anna to succeed.
His Lokpal or Janlokpal would try the cases within a few months & special courts if approached by aggrieved parties for redressal if any will be decided within 6 months or 1 year at the most.
Isn't it wonderful for a Democracy?

It is not surprising to see Eddy challenging Lokayukta's indiction on the issue of illegal mining and kick backs from the mining companies. All criminal cases slapped on him in different issues were challenged by him to remain in CM's Chair!!"Justice Santhosh Hegde has gone beyond terms of reference" is a contention for challenging him in the court of law,Puttasawmy thundered. But CM forget that lokayukta has right to probe corruption of prevention on his own including CM under new Lokayukta law. Therefore Eddy is the looser and certainly he would be indicted for his misgiving during his tenure as CM of Karnataka.

BSY must save his face to keep himself in politics. He will do well if he comes out clean, so that there will be future chances of power. If not, the caste politics within the BJP will dominate the situation and that would signal a total end of BJP rule in Karnataka. Kudos to Mr. Santhosh Hegde, who worked tirelessly to bring the culprits to justice. Now the next hook to be fixed to Reddies who are still on the run in spite of looting the state hundreds of crores and stashing money in Virgin Islands. Jai Hoo.
