Mangaluru, Aug 3: A youth, first year student of Karnataka (Government) Polytechnic (KPT), killed himself, distraught over the fact that his family did not provide him money for his expenses on the first day of joining the institute.
The deceased is identified as Sushant (17), son of Bhaskar Poojary and Dakshayani, residents of Subhash Nagar. He had completed his schooling and pre-university in the city. As he wanted to pursue mechanical engineering diploma, his parents got him admitted to KPT on August 2. They had given him Rs 500 on the day.
On Wednesday August 3, when Sushant was leaving to college, his parents did not give him Rs 500 for expenses. Dejected by the fact, Sushant remained at home itself. When his father went out and mother was busy in kitchen, he hanged himself to the wooden log of the roof in his room.
Ullal police have registered a case in this connection.
