Udupi, Aug 4: A suo moto case is filed in the city police station against Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leaders Sharan Pumpwell and Dinesh Mendon, who made inflammatory speeches at the protest meet that was organized on Thursday by VHP and Bajrang Dal (BD) in the city urging comprehensive investigation into the college washroom video case.
In the meeting that was held at parking place of Rajangana of Sri Krishna Math, Sharan Pumpwell said, “As the protectors of Hindu society, we will give a befitting reply to the Jihadi demonesses. This kind of attack should be stopped today itself. Hindu mothers should wake up. The hands which hold ladles should take up arms. When injustice takes place, we should be ready to hold swords.”
Similarly, complaint is raised against Dinesh Mendon that he too spoke in an inciting manner. A local officer who was present at the meeting on security duty has filed suo moto case as per the directions of the Supreme Court.
Also, a case has been filed against Veena Shetty of BJP Mahila Morcha over her derogatory comments against Muslim girls during a protest organized by Udupi district BJP condemning the college washroom video incident on July 28.
As per the case, Veena Shetty had commentated stating, "No Muslim girls should be given admission in schools and colleges, let them go to Madrasas.”
An FIR has been lodged against Veena Shetty and investigation is underway in this case.
