Rajya Sabha Adjourned Twice Over Land to Gandhi Trust

New Delhi, Aug 3 (IANS): The Rajya Sabha Wednesday was adjourned twice after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sought to raise the issue of the Haryana government being pulled up by the Punjab and Haryana High Court over allocation of land to the Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust.

BJP members sought to raise the issue during zero hour but Deputy Chairman K. Rahman Khan did not agree to their demand. He asked BJP members, some of whom came near his podium, to go back to their seats.

"It is a state subject. Who will answer it?" the deputy chairman said.

As the BJP members did not agree, the house was adjourned for 10 minutes.

When the house reassembled, the BJP members again raised the issue. Khan then adjourned the house till 2 p.m.
