Shivaraj Patil Sworn in as New Karnataka Lokayukta

Bangalore, Aug 3 (PTI): Former Supreme Court judge Shivaraj V Patil was today sworn in as new Karnataka Lokayukta by Governor H R Bhardwaj.

Retired Karnataka High Court judge R Gurarajan was also sworn in as new Upalokayukta at a function in Raj Bhavan. Patil succeeds Santosh Hegde, whose term as Lokayukta ended yesterday.

Earlier, Shivaraj Patil had probed the procedures followed in allocation of telecom spectrum in 2001-09 following the 2G spectrum scandal. He also served as Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court, as well as the Acting Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission.

Those present on the occasion included outgoing chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, higher educatiop minister V S Acharya, former Karnataka Lokayukta Santosh Hegde, Upalokayukta S B Majage, DGP Neelam Achutha Rao and Chief Secretary S V Ranganath.

    Karnataka is better ruled state than may of the states ruled by Congis. The media which is funded by Congress gave the negative publicity against bjp ruled states and those who involved in conversions are actively involved in this too. Mainly those who write comments in Daiji world

    Congrats to new Lokayukta of Karnataka.The new Ombudsman has a herculean task to keep the legacy of immediate past Lokayukta Justice Santhosh Hegde. All eyes are @ new Lokayucta who had enough files against former CM Yeddi.Expectations are high from new Lokayukta as there are a chaos and confusions in Karnataka after electing new CM of Karnataka.With regarding to Eddy's illegal mining file and kick backs, people of Karnataka and politicians may always put Lokayukta in goggle!!

    BSY has now got his nominated CM and also new Lokayukta. Although he stepped down, its a win win situation for him. Lets hope ALL IS WELL for Karnataka at least now onwards.
