Udupi, Aug 5: “As many as 3,15,692 people in the district will benefit by the ambitious Gruha Jyothi scheme of the state government,” said state minister of women and child development, disabled and senior citizen’s empowerment and district in-charge minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar. She was speaking after setting in motion the Gruha Jyothi scheme at Kunjibettu.
She further said, “The state government has implemented three out of five schemes including the Gruha Jyothi scheme announced by the government for the welfare of the people before elections. The government does as promised and takes the state towards progress under the principle of ‘Sama Palu Sama Balu’,” she said.
“Shakti and Anna Bhagya schemes are already launched in the state. The Gruha Jyothi scheme is started now. The scheme will be launched at Belagavi in a mass conference on August 18 or August 20. Our government announced the guarantees to fill with confidence the people who were devastated by the price rise.
“As many as 1.42 crore consumers in the state will benefit by the Gruha Jyothi scheme and 1.28 crore families by Anna Bhagya scheme. Thirty crore women have travelled under Shakti scheme. Rs 2,000 will be distributed every month to 1.28 crore families through DBT. One crore women have already registered for it so far. There are 3.15,692 consumers in Udupi under Gruha Jyothi scheme. Total of A2,69,949 consumers amounting to 80% among them have registered for Gruha Jyothi scheme. The state is marching ahead towards security and progress,” she said.
MLA Yashpal Suvarna presided over the programme. The minister meanwhile issued the authenticated letter of the free bill to the beneficiaries of Gruha Jyothi scheme.
State president of backward class commission K Jayaprakash Hegde, zilla panchayat chief executive officer Prasanna H, Kundapur sub division officer Rashmi, Mescom director H G Ramesh, chief engineer Pushpa, general manager Abhishek, Udupi circle superintendent engineer Dinesh Upadhya and others were present.
Mescom sub division executive engineer Prasanna Kumar welcomed the gathering. Accounts officer Girish compered the programme. Vinayak Kamath rendered the vote of thanks.
