Beltangady, Aug 6: Dharmasthala police arrested three people In connection with the assault of a auto rickshaw driver, who was returning to Ujire after dropping a young girl to Dharmastala bus stand, two days ago.
The arrested accused are Dharmastala residents Avinash (26), Nandeep (20) and Puttur taluk Uppinangady resident Akshat (22). Mohammed Asique (22), a resident of Attaje of Ujire is the victim of assault. Investigation for apprehending other accused is in progress.
Ashique who was hospitalised after assault
The girl who went in the auto-rickshaw of Ashique is a student and a native of Bengaluru, who studies in a private college at Ujire. As her classes got over last week, she hired Ashique’s auto-rickshaw to travel to Dharmasthala bus stand on August 2 night in order to go to her native place Bengaluru. When Ashique was returning after dropping the girl, the accused assaulted him and escaped from the spot.
