Udupi, Aug 7: QR code is introduced in order to pay the waste handling fee from the comfort of one’s home by Kadoor-Nadoor gram panchayat (GP) under Udupi zilla panchayat limits.
Five years have passed since waste handling was introduced in Kadoor-Nadoor. Now the gram panchayat has introduced this unique feature.
Houses are scattered in this gram panchayat and it was becoming difficult to collect the waste handling fee as the people used to show helplessness of no money etc. Now the issue is resolved.
Considering all the obstacles, all members of the panchayat unanimously asked for QR code introduction and the same was conveyed to the public.
A WhatsApp group consisting of all houses of the ward is made and the respective ward representative is also there in the group. The details of fee are sent through QR code and scanner. Villagers are also showing good response to the new system.
There is a population of 5000 people under Kadoor-Nadoor gram panchayat with 1106 families and 36 shops and commercial outlets. Every month 12 to 16 tonnes of dry waste is handled.
