Mangaluru, Aug 10: One person died, one seriously injured and four others received minor injuries as the car in which they were travelling collided with a tipper truck at Moorukaveri on Kinnigoli-Moodbidri state highway on Wednesday August 9 evening.
The deceased is identified as Ramanna (49), a resident of Beluvayi. The other passengers in the car were Vasanth, Praveen, Dinesh, Ananda and Sanjeeva. One of them was seriously injured while four others received minor injuries.
The car was moving from Aikala to Mulky and the tipper was coming from Mulky to Beluvai. The car driver lost control and went beyond the asphalted road. As he was coming again on the road, he hit the tipper head-on. Though the tipper truck driver tried his best to avoid the car, the collision took place. One part of the car was completely mangled due to the impact.
Ramanna and five others were returning home to Beluvayi after demolishing their old house at Karnad in Mulky.
When the injured were being rushed to the hospital, the ambulance had to wait at railway crossing for over 20 minutes. The public have nurged to build a fly over at the crossing for emergency vehicles to pass through.
