Kadaba, Aug 10: A heart-wrenching incident unfolded in Bollaje, Punchappadi village, as a woman tragically lost her life on Wednesday while engaged in coconut-plucking duties atop a towering 40-foot tree.
The departed, identified as Suchithra (30), had been adeptly harvesting coconuts for the past two years utilizing a climbing machine. Unfortunately, fate took a grim turn as she ascended the coconut tree adjacent to her residence and tumbled to the ground, machine and all. Despite swift efforts by her husband to transport her to the government hospital in Puttur, her injuries proved fatal.
Suchithra's accomplishments as the first woman to employ a climbing machine for coconut harvesting had garnered recognition from numerous organizations. Left to mourn her loss are her husband, son, and daughter. A case has been lodged at the Bellare police station in connection with this tragic incident.
