Mangaluru, Aug 10: The Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India) Mangaluru Chapter marked an important transition as it held the installation ceremony for its chairman and office bearers for the term 2023-2025. The event took place at St. Sebastian Hall on Wednesday, August 9.
Ujwal D Souza Assumes Chairmanship of Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India) Mangaluru Chapter
Dr Mahabaleshwara M S, former managing director and CEO of Karnataka Bank, expressed his congratulations to the Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India) Mangaluru Chapter, which is nearing its 25th year of establishment. He emphasized the rewarding experience of being associated with the association and underscored the importance of continuing the commendable efforts. Dr Mahabaleshwara commended the achievements of the past two years and looked forward to the new team, led by chairman Ujwal D'Souza, shouldering responsibilities over the next two years. Highlighting Ujwal D'Souza's leadership, he playfully referred to him as "Ujwal Bright D'Souza," expressing hope for the realization of innovative ideas during his tenure.
Dr Mahabaleshwara M S also urged the association to assume the role of a societal watchdog. He cited instances such as the decade-long completion of the Pumpwell infrastructure project, which faced severe challenges during the monsoon. He also mentioned the precarious condition of the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway, raising questions about faulty constructions and designs, and the accountability engineers should uphold.
The event also included a felicitation of Dr Mahabaleshwara MS for his contributions.
Rajendra Kalbhavi, secretary general of the Association of Consulting Civil Engineers, noted the remarkable achievements of the past two years, which included navigating the challenges of the pandemic and establishing a new center.
J Prem Kumar, Governing Council member of the Association of Consulting Civil Engineers, praised the Mangaluru Chapter's active and effective role. As the chapter celebrates its 25th anniversary, the goal of establishing 100 centers by the term's end was highlighted.
Satyaranjan Rao, past president, welcomed the changes brought by the team over the past two years, resulting in increased membership, effective management during the pandemic, and successful collaborative activities.
Ujwal D'Souza expressed his gratitude for being chosen as the Chairman of the Mangaluru chapter and expressed his expectations for strong teamwork and impactful programs that would positively influence the community during his tenure.
The ceremony was welcomed by past president Satyaranjan Rao, the vote of thanks was proposed by secretary Vinod T D'Souza, and the event was hosted by Vijay Vishnu Mayya.
Past secretary Clody Jerald Lobo and Past Treasurer Devendra K Shetty were also present at the event.
