Beltangady, Aug 12: Team of Bengaluru CID police (forest unit) confiscated 125 kg of red sanders that was being transported illegally at Karimanelu near Venoor and arrested two accused. Both the confiscated red sanders and the accused are handed over to Venoor forest department.
The arrested accused are identified as Deekshith, a resident of Guruvayanakere and Khalid from Mavinakatte. Another accused Santhosh is absconding.
Acting on definite information, a team of mobile forest department of Bengaluru led by ASI Janaki confiscated 125 kg of red sanders and the vehicle used for the transportation.
Venoor zonal forest officer Mahim Jannu has taken up the investigation and has handed over the accused to the court. The value of the confiscated goods and vehicle is said to be around Rs 6.5 lac.
