Bangalore: BJP Factions Bargaining Hard, Coalition Scenario Emerging

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Aug 5: The fact that only Ananth Kumar, MP,  from the BJP faction that is strongly opposed to B S Yddyurappa did attend the swearing-in ceremony of D V Sadananda Gowda on Thusday, dropped clear hints that power game had begun within the BJP in the state. Most of the MLAs from the rival camp including Jagadish Shettar, Reddy Brothers, Jarkiholi etc stayed away from the function, and chose to show that they are not ready to budge easily. Because of the resistance from the faction opposed to Yeddyurappa, Gowda alone could took oath, duly postponing the swearing-in of at least some of the cabinet ministers, by a few days.

Ananth Kumar camp, which secured 55 votes as against 63 by Gowda, has been demanding for equal share in power and also wants to retain important portfolios like home, revenue, rural development etc. The camp claims that most of its members are original BJP men. The camp is dead against giving importance to Yeddyurappa, and it is widely known that Gowda was handpicked by Yeddyurappa to succeed him. When Sadananda Gowda visited Shettar's residence where the legislators of the other faction were having tea, Shettar is said to have remarked that none of the legislators from his faction would accept ministerial berths if Yeddyurappa is allowed to have a say in the administration. The leaders are also angry at the fact that Yeddyurappa had threatened some ministers at the legislature party meeting of BJP convened to elect the new Chief Minister.

Apparently, more than the principles or anger, the crux of the heart-burning within the camps hinges on power sharing ratio. It is said that Yeddyurappa camp has offered 14 berths to this faction, while wanting to retain remaining 20 with itself. As Gowda was not willing to promise the other faction that it would be allotted equal ministerial berths in the ministry apart from important portfolios, they decided to boycott the ceremony, it is gathered. The opposition faction now wants all discussion about allocation of portfolio and formation of the ministry, to be held in the presence of national leadership of the party. It is said that they have also been demanding for the formation of a core committee to decide important issues.

Sadananda Gowda has expressed hope of being able to convince all the factions and induct ministers into the cabinet within a few days. Even if he is able to do this, the ministry for all purposes, will look like a coalition government. Instead of two political parties, there will be two factions, which cannot see eye to eye with each other. As both factions have almost equal strength, there will be hard bargains on every inch of the way, including posting and transfer of important officials, appointments to corporations and boards, etc. In all likelihood, central leadership will have to intervene frequently to ensure that the government survives its full term.

After Yeddyurappa visited Art of Living Foundation here, its founder, Sri Sri Ravishankar is said to have met Shettar on Friday in an effort to strike truce. The Guru reportedly tried to impress upon Shettar the need to come to terms with the other faction in the interest of the state as a whole. It is not yet certain as to whether Ravishnkar could extract any assurance from Shettar. Former minister Murugesh Nirani said that the legislators respect Sri Sri Ravishnkar and will heed to his advice.

If the factions continue to fight tooth and nail on every issue, development of the state will suffer. Moreover, there is every chance that the party will squander away a chance to floor the opposition leaders including JDS state president and MP, H D Kumaraswamy, on the basis of Lokayukta report. The main grouse of the camp headed by Eshwarappa, Ananth Kumar, Ashok, etc is against the interference in the administration by Yeddyurappa, while the former CM would want to have an emphatic say in every issue.

Dear Mr. nagesh nayak, Bangalore, I Quote your comment:
      COMPETITION IS ALWAYS GOOD.
MORE DEVELOPMENTAL WORK WILL BE IMPLEMENTED UNDER COMPETITION. Unquote.

Congress and jds are competing bjp whereas your comment is only hate towards jds and congress.
Moreover, your comment is always Pranaaam to criminal accused Mr. Yeddyurappa.

How do you know Mr. nagesh nayak yeddyurappa will rule 50 years???
And 50 M.L.A.'s revolted/abstained oath taking of Mr. Sadananda Gowda?
You have predicted well. Instead of ruling 50 years by Mr. Yeddyurappa, 50 M.L.A's revolted/abstained and criticized that too the criticisms were not constructive but destructive.

A HOUSE DEVIDED AGAINST ITSELF CANNOT STAND. THIS IS THE CASE WITH BJP. SOME ONE PREDICTED THAT BJP WILL RULE KARNATAKA FOR NEXT 50 YEARS SADLY THIS IS GOING TO BE THE BEGINNING OF THE END OF BJP IN KARNATAKA. THERE WILL BE POWER SHIFTS AND QUARRALING, BACKBITING AND THEN JOINING EITHER CONGRESS OR JDS. SAD CASE INDEED. BJP AT THE CENTRE HAD THE SAME FATE A FEW YEARS AGO. THEY THOUGHT THEY WILL COME TO POWER BUT MISERABLY FAILED IN THE PAST TWO ELECTIONS. NOW THE STAR OF CONGRESS IS SLOWLY EMERGING. BJP WILL CONTINUE TO HOLD ON TO THE OLD GUYS AND THE YOUNG ONES ARE LEFT ALONE. WHAT KIND OF FUTURE BJP HAS IN INDIA?

Let us wait and see the political game in Karnataka. It is true that both the factions of BJP will win one or the other way. But the real losers are the People of Karnataka. The politicians should know that people are not naive to be played on the emotions.

Coalition of looters. If there is no serving attitude and politics is the means to create wealth, this will be the condition of any party or group. Added to this spine less high command who does not have any command or respect. Atleast party president decision is final in congress while Sitaram Kesari was heading which pulled down Deve Gowda Govt. That much respect Gadgari or Advani or so called high command does not have in this party. This drama will prevail some more time. Come next election party will be in waste bin. We have wasted our vote in last election

All these days the differences in the Party was like fire masked by ash. Now it is flared up and shown their resentment openly. The Anantkumar group have no morality or respect towards the Party or its top up leaders. Especially Mr.Anantkumar is like a scorpion. We don't know when it would bite. He has been an aspirant for the CM's post eversince the party came to power in Karnataka. He is an opportunist. It is unfortunate that he has blessings of LK Advani.

What a disgrace!!!.All were elected under one party, one policy, one goal and lack of trust and Unity? I sincerely feel CM Sadananda Gowda must resign and request Governor to dissolve the assembly to call for fresh elections.BJP must prefer to the appropriate candidiates so that Karnataka can have a clean resposible govt for atleast next 5 years.Fortunately these politicians were not born or were infants when Mahatma Gandhi struggled to chase the British away from India.Otherwise with these corrupt, greedy attitude of politicians with lack of patriotism it would have been impossible for Mahatma to be successful as these politicians would have sided the British like Mir Qasim.

We should be patient with stupidity but not with those who are proud of it.

Politicians specially BJP members in Karnataka State have no leisure, because they are always aiming at something beyond political life itself, power and glory, or happiness.

Mr Vijay Kolar,Ravishanker Guruji has benefited in the matters of illegal land acquirement.Eddy Govt made his some of land AKRAMA as SAKRAMA!!To pay the debt he is shuttling from Shettar camp to Eddy camp.In the past three years this govt acted under the clutches of spiritual leaders and it is likely to continue further .....BJP govt not thinks it should be accountable to 6 crore plus voters instead.......Very unfortunate things happens. Therefore voters of Karnataka need to think to give a break to BJP in coming Assembly election any time from now.

Nagesh Nayak Banglore, read as this" More developmental work for self"What happened in the past 3 years were unlimited self develoment of YEDDY/REDDY'S gangs and another 20 months are preparation for election expenses(Kickbacks)There is no development but only hungry for power by both camp. One day earlier Rddy garu JANARDHANA termed Yeddy as his "APPA" father and the very next day during division he opted for Shettar camp thinking that Shettar would emerge victorious as SHETTATR camp is considered as official BJP!!!! However there is no BJP party under the circumstances and it is likely to continue further indefinitely. Those adhered High Command guidelines and directives likely to loose their previously held ministries and corporation chairman due to EDDY's wrath. To clear all these chaos and confusions dissolving Assembly is RAJA MARGA.

Are these people spineless enough not to do it among themselves that they have to get Mutts and Swami's to do this for them.
