Mangaluru, Aug 19: A team of CCB police under the leadership of CCB unit ACP P A Hegde arrested a notorious drug peddler who was buying MDMA drug from Bengaluru and selling it in Mangaluru and Kerala in a car.
The arrested accused is identified as Hassan Sadik alias Blade Sadik (35), a resident of Bantwal and currently staying in Vittal.
Fifty grams MDMA drug worth Rs 2,50,000, a Maruti 800 car, a mobile phone and a digital weighing scale total worth Rs 3,65,500 were confiscated by the police from him. A case in this connection was registered at Konaje police station. The police suspect involvement of more people in drug peddling. Search for more accused is in progress.
Eight cases of assault and posing threats and four attempted murder cases at Vittal police station limits, two attempted murder cases at Puttur, a case of sexual assault and kidnap at Uppinangady, an assault case at Puttur rural police station limits, an attempted robbery at Kavoor police station and drug peddling at Hebbal, Bengaluru police station limits are registered against Sadik. As he was absconding without appearing before the court for hearing, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
CCB unit ACP P A Hegde, police inspector Shyam Sunder H M, PSI Rajendra B, Narendra, Sharanappa Bhandary, Sudeep M V and CCB staff took part in the arrest operation.
