Mangalore: St Christopher's Association Honours Achievers During AGM

Mangalore, Aug 7: St Christopher Association honoured four noted personalities during its annual feast and general body meeting here on Sunday August 7.
The Association honoured Dr Edward Nazreth for having received the Konkani Sahitya Academy award for literature, Agnel Rodrigues for Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Award for media, Raisa Annica D'Souza for securing the first rank in BSW and Royston Pinto for winning two gold medals in special Olympics games held in Athens, Greece.
The vicar general of Mangalore diocese Msgr Denis Prabhu participated in the mass at the Holy Rosary Cathedral, Mangalore. Soon after the holy mass, the blessing of the members' vehicles took place.
Thereafter the general body of the association met at the Rosario Cultural Hall. Dr Edward Nazareth, an ortho surgeon of Fr Muller's Hospital was the chief guest. Msgr Denis Prabhu presided over the programme.
On the occasion 13 children of the members of the association were also honoured for securing distinction in their respective educational courses. Also four members of the association were honoured.
The president of the function Denis Moras Prabhu said that for Christians there are ample opportunities to serve the society as there are a number of associations to cater to people from every walk of life.
Sushil Noronha, president of the association welcomed. Victor Menezes, secretary of the association read the annual report. Francis D'Souza, vice-president presented the annual accounts. Fr Stany Goveas, vicar of Rosario Cathedral and spiritual director of the association was on the dais.
Harold D'Souza, assistant secretary of the association proposed the vote of thanks. Victor Vas compered the programme.
