Druggie Lures Girl into Addiction, Father Thwarts Plans to Flee

Mangalore, Aug 8: In a complaint filed with the deputy commissioner of police (crime), Dharmaiah, Arjun, a resident of Jalligudde here, has requested the police to take action against a youth, who he has accused of drugging his daughter. Arjun has said that the youth had drawn up plans to take the girl to Mumbai by train, and that he could thwart this plan from being executed at the last minute.
The girl is a first PU student of a college in the city. The complaint accuses Arif, son of former city mayor, Ashraf, of making the girl a drug addict by supplying her with drugs frequently. The complaint was handed over to the police, in the presence of Kumar Malemar of Sri Rama Sene.
The complaint accuses Arif of planning to make the girl a drug addict, before transporting her to Mumbai. Arjun said that two other girl students had extended support to Arif in this crime. He said that three girl students had visited the city railway station on Saturday afternoon, but only his daughter had a reserved ticket. Two others also had accompanied the girl, but they returned after seeing off her at the station, he said.
It is learnt that the police are yet to register a formal complaint against the accused. The girl student, who is addicted to drugs, has been admitted into a private hospital for treatment.
