Karnataka's Ex-minister Katta Naidu , Son Jailed in Graft Case

Bangalore, Aug 8 (IANS) Former Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) minister Katta Subramanya Naidu and his son Katta Jagadish were Monday sent to judicial custody in a corruption case after their bail pleas were rejected by a court here.

Additional City Civil and Sessions Court Judge N.K. Sudhindra Rao refused to give them bail and ordered they be taken into custody.

The two will be in jail till a higher court grants them bail, Special Public Prosecutor Pramod Chandra told reporters.

The Naidus are accused of taking a kickback of Rs.87 crore from Itasca Software for allotting 325 acres of land near Bangalore.

There are seven other accused in the case including the software company's managing director S.V. Srinivas, whose bail plea was rejected Monday.

Subramanya Naidu is charged with clearing Itasca's application for land and flouting rules when he was industries minister in the Janata Dal-Secular-BJP coalition government in 2006-07.

On Dec 3 last year, he quit as IT minister in the B.S. Yeddyurappa ministry, a day after police attached to Lokayukta (ombudsman) filed the case against him and others.

Naidu's son is a BJP councillor in the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (Greater Bangalore City Corporation). He was arrested in October 2010 for trying to bribe a witness. He was on bail in this case.

Show zero tolerance to the Govt servants like the dirty Politicians and the greasy Babus. They are responsible for the state of affair of the poor in rural India. For your information the statistic says that internationally, an income of less than $1.25 per day per head of purchasing power parity is defined as extreme poverty. By this estimate, after 60 years of independence about 40% percent of Indians are extremely poor and some are included in the starvation line.

We really miss you Mr Hegde.

Mr Katta and sons, enjoy your days in Parappana Agrahara jail. You may be missing your partners and feeling lonely. But Lokayukta police will soon send Yeddy and his sons to accompany you. Today they have initiated the process.

Dear friends, Going by the corruption records in the Bangalore Urban society and also in the Govt. and from my own personal experience, it is pretty obvious that the virus of rampant corruption dominates among Andhra origin people. It is also clear that BJP Govt. minus Reddys & Co is reasonably clean. It is another matter that BJP for the survival of its Govt. has no other option but to indulge in corruption with Reddys. By insisting on rubber stamp ministers in plump portfolios, they have ensured the continuation of corruption from where they have left. God save our our State from these day light robbers. Regards

This is great news for Karnataka. We will see Karnataka shining when all these corrupt ministers who robbed our state are put in jail and all the funds recovered and restored to the government for the badly needed infra-structure.
If only 50% iligal money is recovered, Karnatakas image will shine.

    Jai Karnataka
