Decision on Hazare's fast venue in two days: Delhi Police

New Delhi, Aug 8 (IANS) Delhi Police Monday informed a group of civil society activists that a decision on the venue of anti-corruption campaigner Anna Hazare's proposed fast from Aug 16 will be finalised by Thursday, an NGO member said.

Hazare is scheduled to begin his indefinite fast from Aug 16 against the government's version of the anti-graft Lokpal bill.

A group of civil society activists, including Arvind Kejriwal, Kiran Bedi, Prashant Bhushan and Manish Sisodia, met Delhi Police Commissioner B.K. Gupta Monday to discuss the final venue for Hazare's fast.

"The police commissioner assured us that he would discuss the five proposed venues with other senior officers and get back to the civil society group within the next two days," Aswathi Muralidharan, member of NGO Parivartan, told IANS.

The five venues proposed by civil society members are Jantar Mantar, Ramlila Ground, Raj Ghat (Mahatma Gandhi's memorial), Boat Club (near India Gate) and Shahidi Park.
