Locarno, Aug 8 (IANS) Georges Goldenstern, executive director of Cinefondation in Cannes, says he has come to the Locarno International Film Festival in search of young talented filmmakers from India and to ask them to apply for residence in Paris.

"I am looking for talent all over the world and this year I chose India so I'm curious to discover interesting projects and to ask them to apply for residence. I have met some of them," Goldenstern told IANS.

Established in 2000, the Residence du Festival welcomes directors who work there on their first or second fictional feature film project, in two sessions lasting four-and-a-half-month.

In last 10 years, seventy filmmakers from more than 40 different countries have attended it.

Apart from their stay, the filmmakers get a personalised programme accompanying the writing of their scripts, and a collective programme of forums with film industry professionals.

"For each session, I received more than 250 applications and only six possibilities are there. The selected people get to stay in Paris for four months to write and develop their scripts," said Goldenstern adding he wants to be surprised by the budding filmmakers' story ideas and scripts.

Those who are interested, can apply online.

"For residence, everyone has to apply online (http://www.festival-cannes.fr/en/cinefoundation.html). For the residence this session, the deadline is September, so it's soon. The session is beginning March 1 till July end. It is not only about the process of writing, it is also about the process of finding producer," he added saying it won't be like a master class.
