Mangaluru, Aug 25: In a distressing incident, an unidentified woman forcibly entered the residence of an elderly woman who lived alone. Employing a pillow to suffocate her, the intruder made off with a 22-gram gold chain. The incident occurred at the first cross of Mitranagara, Moorukatte, Kumpala.
The victim, Susheela (70), a solitary resident, fell victim to the robbery under the cover of darkness. Having lost her husband several years ago and being without children, she was sleeping in the hall of her house around 2:45 am when the assailant struck. The thief, described by Susheela as wearing a chudidar, managed to steal the gold chain from her possession.
In response, a team led by Ullal Police Inspector Sandeep and Assistant Inspector Sheetal promptly arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation. BJP leader Sathish Kumpala has appealed to the police for the swift apprehension of the perpetrator. It has come to light that this is not the first incident, as two gold bangles were previously stolen from Susheela's residence. However, she refrained from reporting those incidents to the police.
