BJP not serious about discussion on CAG: Minister

New Delhi, Aug 9 (IANS) Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ashwini Kumar Tuesday said the opposition doesn't seem serious about a discussion on the Comptroller and Auditor General's (CAG) report on the Commonwealth Games (CWG) as they are not letting the house function.

"Despite an agreement yesterday (Monday) that the house will run and question hour will be taken up in the Lok Sabha after which there will be a calling attention and then discussion will begin on (Sports Minister) Ajay Maken's statement, unfortunately they disrupted the house and did not let question hour proceed," said Kumar.

Both the houses of parliament were adjourned Tuesday till noon following protests by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies seeking Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit's reaction.

"The basic essence of democracy is dialogue, understanding between all concerned to see that any legislative body runs smoothly. A very sudden change of stance on the part of the BJP and not letting the question hour run has really raised genuine doubts in everyone's mind whether they are really genuine about discussion," he said.

It was the BJP, which demanded a discussion on the CAG and now they are not letting the house run, he said.
