Kadaba, Aug 27: Members of Shaurya team of Dharmasthala Rural Development Project searched for the mortal remains of daily wage labourer Balakrishna Gowda (56), a resident of Pademane in Edamangala village in the taluk, who is suspected to be swept away by Kumaradhara river 25 days ago.
Balakrishna had left his house on July 31 in order to buy groceries from a shop at Pijakala. After purchasing the groceries, the owner of the shop saw him walking towards Paloli, where a huge bridge is being built across Kumaradhara river. Some people cross the river by foot under the bridge when the water level is low. It is suspected that Balakrishna must have tried to cross the river and got swept away due the current of the water.
The bag that was held by Balakrishna was found on the banks of Kumaradhara at Nadoli a few days ago. Bellare police are also searching for the mortal remains on the banks of Kumaradhara river.
On Saturday, an eight-member Shaurya team searched in the Kumaradhara river from Paloli to Koodige but could not find the body.
