Mangaluru, Aug 27: Ullal police arrested a person who was transporting centering sheets that were stolen and confiscated 120 iron centering sheets and three sets of iron rods from him.
The arrested accused is identified as Ilyas alias Mohammed Ilyas (23), a resident of Todar at Moodbidri.
PSI Santhosh Kumar of Ullal police station was on duty with his personnel on Saturday August 26. A Ritz car and pick-up vehicles were moving towards K C Road from Pilikoor. When the vehicles were stopped, two men from the Ritz car got down and ran away. When the police inquired driver of pick-up vehicle, they found 120 centering sheets and three boxes of iron rods.
Police informed that the accused has confessed to have stolen the sheets and rods from under construction building at Kolya on August 7 night.
The accused had stored the items in a deserted place at Pilikoor as he was scared that he will be caught if the same is sold immediately. The value of the stolen goods is said to be Rs 3.75 lac.
The operation was led by Ullal police station inspector Sandeep G S, PSI Santhosh Kumar, Krishna, Sheetal, Dhanraj, Shekhar Gatty, Ranjith and Riyaz.
