Kalmadi was appointed by Sonia, PM: Gadkari

New Delhi, Aug 9 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tuesday attacked the central government saying that Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi was appointed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the recommendation of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.

The youth wing of the BJP Tuesday took out a rally from Ramlila ground in central Delhi to Jantar Mantar to demand the ouster of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, who was indicted of irregularities in the Games by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).

"The report clearly indicts the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) and Dikshit of being involved in financial irregularities worth crores (of Rupees). I want an answer from Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on the CAG report," BJP chief Nitin Gadkari said while addressing the rally.

Gadkari also compared the situation to Karnataka.

"Congress was telling us that we are not taking action against former Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa. Now, we ask the same thing... take action against Dikshit," he said.

Gadkari said that Kalmadi was appointed by the prime minister at the behest of Sonia Gandhi and the government is now blaming the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance.

    GADKARI YOU HAVE NO RIGHT FIRST OF ALL TO ASK SONIA, PM OR SHIELA'S RESIGNATION ? GADKARI YOU ARE A SPINELESS PRESIDENT OF BJP. YOU CANNOT CONTROL YOUR OWN PARTY AND MPS. YOUR OWN BJP PARTY MEMBERS DOES NOT GIVE YOU ANY RESPECT. YEDDY DID NOT RESIGN EVEN IF YOU WANTED HIM TO DO SO TWICE BUT HAD TO GO ONLY AFTER THE LOKAUKTA REPORT. SO WHEN YOU CANNOT HANDLE YOUR OWN MEN, DON'T TRY TO HANDLE OTHERS. TILL YESTERDAY GADKARI WANTED SHIELA TO RESIGN. TODAY HE WANTS SONIA AND PM TO RESIGN. GADKARI IS ADDING ONE OR TWO PERSONS EVERYDAY. CONGRESS WILL NOT DO THIS AT ANY COST EVEN IF THE PARLIMENT RUNS OR DOES NOT RUN. GADKARI SHOULD BEHAVE LIKE A RESPONSIBLE OPPOSITION AND NOT LIKE A CHILD. EVEN A PIN FALLS BJP WANTS CONGRESS TO RESIGN. NO ONE CAN AFFORD TO HAVE ELECTIONS ONCE IN TWO YEARS. WE NEED A STABLE GOVERNMENT TO RUN THE COUNTRY AND THAT ONLY CONGRESS CAN GIVE.
