When a Lone Woman Confronted Rioters in London

London, Aug 9 (IANS): A lone woman who stood up to the rioters and told them not to touch the shops in London has become an internet hit.

A Telegraph journalist shot the footage near Clarence Road Tuesday night. The footage has attracted over 800,000 views.

The woman asked rioters to leave local shops alone and instead concentrate on protesting against the death of Mark Duggan, an incident that sparked the violence.

One online post said: "This woman has restored my faith in humanity somewhat today. I want to marry her."

London witnessed a third night of violence as other cities saw unrest. Protesters were seen destroying and looting shops, setting cars and buildings alight and engaging in clashes with police.

Violence began in the British capital's northern district of Tottenham Saturday over the fatal shooting of Duggan by police.

Some 300 people gathered outside a police station in Tottenham Saturday night to demand "justice" after 29-year-old cab driver and alleged drug dealer Mark Duggan was killed in Thursday's shootout with police.
