Way2SMS Delivered Over Five Crore Messages on Friendship Day


Hyderabad, Aug 9 (IANS): City-based web portal Way2SMS, which offers free computer-to-mobile messaging, Tuesday said it delivered over five crore messages across the country on Friendship Day Sunday.

According to the company's founder and chief executive officer (CEO) V.V. Raju, as many as 5,82,45,529 messages were delivered Aug 7.

Way2sms, which has over 1.9 crore registered users, also witnessed 84,128 new registrations on the occasion, which is three times more than average day activity. It also delivered 30 lakh e-cards on the day.

"On this Friendship Day, our website has witnessed 30 percent increase in the number of messages compared to 2010," Raju said in a statement.

Way2sms delivers 15 million SMSs per day, which averages 500 messages per second during the day hours, besides delivering over two million e-mail alerts a day.

Way2sms, the first player to introduce computer to mobile messaging, was the eighth fastest growing keyword, according to Google Indiazeitgeist-2010, competing with names such as Facebook and Twitter.

The website is visited by users from 30 countries every day and it delivers over 500 million messages every month, the statement added.
