2,377 Delhi buildings found fire defective


New Delhi, Aug 9 (IANS) A survey found that 2,377 buildings in the capital did not have fire clearance from Delhi Fire Service, and most of them had been built before 1983.

Giving this information in the Lok Sabha Tuesday, Minister of State for Home M. Ramachandran said owners and occupies of 690 of the buildings had been peanlized by disconnecting their power and water supply.

Another 106 cases were referred to competent agencies for verification of their height, 527 buildings later got No Objection Certificates and 747 were converted to low rise buildings.

Show case was issued in 46 cases, one building was sealed and another was demolished, the minister said in a written statement.
