Deletion of Clause 14 (f) Approved by Centre

Hyderabad, Aug 10: Following the meeting involving the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA) at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's residence, the centre has now decided to delete the controversial Clause 14 (f) from the presidential order to make Hyderabad a part of Zone VI.

The meeting was chaired by Manmohan Singh. Union Ministers AK Antony, Salman Khursheed, Sharad Pawar, Farooq Abdullah, Trivedi, Chidambaram and Alagiri attended the meeting.

In the meeting, the letter written by chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy requesting the Centre to take necessary steps to remove the clause was discussed.

TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu was in support of the decision and urged president Prathiba Patil to expedite approval.

Senior Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao appealed to the Seemandhra leaders, who had been opposing the deletion of the clause, not to create any more hurdles.
