Mangaluru, Sep 1: Shops run by traders that are on rent at the renovated Alake market owned by Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) and those who have not paid rent were visited by the corporation revenue officials and staff on Friday, September 1 and seized.
It is said that 10 traders had not paid rent despite sending repeated reminders to them and they had outstanding dues of Rs 28 lacs to be paid to the MCC.
The MCC officials therefore inevitably took these defaulting owners of shops to custody. The traders have now come forward to pay the outstanding dues towards rent after this action.
