Mangalore: Drug Abuse of Teenage Girl - Former Mayor Ashraf Clarifies

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, Aug 11: In the wake of recent media reports of his son allegedly luring a girl in to drug addiction and then planning to pack her off to Mumbai, former mayor Ashraf on Wednesday August 10 met police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh to clarify the matter.

The girl's father Arjun had filed a complaint against Ashraf's son Araf stating that he had introduced his daughter to drugs and was planning to take her to Mumbai. However, in his meeting with the police commissioner, Ashraf claimed that his son was innocent and was in Mumbai studying in a college. He also asked Singh to investigate the matter thoroughly and added that if at all found guilty of any wrongdoing, he would be ready for any enquiry against his son.

Ashraf further revealed that the girl and Araf had shared a friendship sometime ago, and despite warnings, the girl refused to back out. The girl's father had even accused Araf of trying to convert his daughter. Ashraf then decided to put an end to the matter and sent off his son to Mumbai for studies, and there was even a written agreement from both sides in a police station that the girl and the boy would not meet each other again.

A month or so ago, the girl's father barged into Ashraf's house along with Bajrang Dal activists and demanded to know his son's number, the former mayor said. They said that the girl had gone missing and hurled accusations against Araf of kidnapping her. But on the phone with Araf, the girl's mother revealed that the girl herself had decided to go to Mumbai without informing her father, Ashraf said, adding that the mother had even suggested marriage between the two, which he turned down.

Ashraf also said that he had recorded the conversation between him and Arjun and provided it to the police as proof of Araf's innocence.

There were also reports that Ashraf had alleged some of his own partymen of trying to slander his name but later denied the allegations, but he stuck to his claim that there was a political angle to the reports about his son and appealed to the media to present his side of the story.

He was accompanied by Congress leaders Suresh Ballal, Ivan D'Souza and others.

RELIGION IS OPIUM TO SOCIETY. FIRST AND FOREMOST WE ARE INDIANs & HINDUSTANI. THEN ALL ARE SECONDARY.

If the boy is studying in Bombay, then something is fishy. There is more political rivalry this is the real issue. Enemy within is more dangerous than enemy from outside.

Now a days many girls/boys irrespective of their religion are marrying in court. They give damn to religion and cling to their loved ones. Thanks to the media for educating them.

Do not blame the girl or boy for the love attraction. This is natural as opposite poles attract each other. I blame the parents. If they failed in their duties towards their children, why blame the others. Every coin has 2 sides and require 2 hands to clap.

I feel pity for the parents of that innocent girl who is in first year PUC. What she knows about the life??

This is a lesson for all parents to guide and educate their children about the butchers in the society.

There is more than what meets the eye here. If someone offers drugs to my daughter and she accepts it , there is a fundamental problem in her and not the rest of the world. There is a fundamental problem in my upbringing that has led to daughter getting easily getting lured to something like this. If the issue were of blackmail, coersion or forceful intimidation against the wishes then it is a criminal act. This case has all the indication of sensationalism (including the media) trying to vitiate a communal atmosphere.

If you guys remember, i had said
    'all glitters are not gold'.
Never get emotional with words like
    'father/daughter/mother/sister/husband/wife' etc etc.
Truth is always something else, and comes out only after perfect investigation.

I fail to understand the role of BD is this entire episode.
Are these guys jobless or trained to go only after a particular community?
Are attempts being made to flare up communal violence to divert attention from their tainted now BJP leaders?
There are some serious other issues in Mangalore which need immediate action.
    1. Drug Mafia.
    2. Prostitution Mafia.
    3. Financial fraudsters.
    4. Guarding life on Beaches especially Kaup.
I will appreciate if BD guys use their resources for the betterment of society and communal harmony.

Religious Police didnt like a Hindu girl in love with a Muslim boy, so they are trying their best to put a false case of drug and abduction and sort the matter out. When girls mother admits the truth, why make issue out of it. 2 human beings in love, let them have their space as far as they are of legal age. Langoo...this has nothing to do with congress or BJP but the Religious Police(so called)

Clarification was a must. By the way, since when did the Bajrang Dal has officially begun the work of dealing with inter-caste, inter-religious marriage issues? Most of them won't even have passed high school. Failure are needed for goondagiri and are well paid by their masters. By the way, mining income may not be reliable in the long run. Better look for some other sources!

This is a strange allegation of the father the girl against Ashraf and his son.Any way C.Police of Mangalore need to investigate the matter and come to the press to reveal what is 'inside Story' between Ashraf's son and Arjun's daughter.BD trying to poke with muddied water and thereby want to score in the expense of couple's life. There is a plan which is always unfolding during the time of Ramadan to spoil the peace of the Mangaloreans by vested interest.

If two young adults love each other, then religion goes into dust bin and that shall be. We divide human beings in the name of religion and humanity is lost and has gone into drainage...!
