Bantwal, Sep 3: In an unfortunate incident reported from B C Road, a man lost Rs 63,000 after a stranger fraudulently transferred the money from his wife's bank account. The victim had initially called customer service to address issues with a product he had ordered online.

The victim, Vishal M Ekkundi's wife, Lalitha, who resides in Modankap, B C Road, had placed an online order on July 18. The product was delivered to her on July 26, but it did not meet her expectations in terms of quality.

In an attempt to resolve the issue, Vishal searched for the customer care number of the company through Google and made the call.

To his dismay, the person who answered the call requested Vishal to provide details of his wife's bank account and the ATM card. Trusting the individual, Vishal shared the requested information.

Within moments, an unauthorised transfer of Rs 63,000 was made from his wife's account to an unknown recipient.

A case pertaining to this incident has been registered at the city police station.
