Mangaluru, Sep 4: A gang assaulted a youth in a bid to kill him and restrained his friend from preventing the assault at Kalavaru near Suratkal. Three people were arrested the police in connection to the case.
The arrested are identified as Prashant (28), Dhanraj (23) and Yajnesh (22), all residents of Kalavaru.
According to the details available, a case was filed in Suratkal police station against Gante Riyaz on August 31. On September 3, Suratkal police held a peace meeting at Kalavar. The accused in the case called Abdul Safwan for discussion. Abdul Safwan was riding a bike at around 7.30 pm on Sunday with his friend Mohammed Safwan as pillion rider near Kalavarau Geleyara Balaga bus stand. He was waylaid by accused Prashant and Dhanraj, who abused Abdul. Dhanraj attacked Abdul with a dagger and another accused Ganesh stabbed Abdul’s hand with a knife. Another accused Yajnesh stabbed Abdul on his back.
When Mohammed Safwan tried to intervene in a bid to save Abdul, he was hit and restrained by Punit, Babbu, Ganesh, Pradeep and others. When the accused saw the public gathering at the place, they left the spot after threatening Abdul with dire consequences.
A case in this connection is filed on accused Prashant, Dhanraj and Yajnesh by Suratkal police and further investigation is on.
