Beltangady, Sep 5: Paneyalu Bhaskara Naika (50), a resident of Ujire village, who was returning after giving an interview on a YouTube channel in Mangaluru about Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi, was assaulted by six people.
A case is filed in this connection against Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi, Mohan Shetty Paniyalu, Mukesh Shetty, Prajwal K V Gowda, Neethu Shetty Paniyalu and Pramod Shetty Paniyalu.
Bhaskar Naika was returning home at around 5 pm on September 2 after giving interview to a YouTube channel in Mangaluru. As he reached Paniyalu, it is alleged that six people, including Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi waylaid him, abused using profanity and on his caste and tied him to an electricity pole and hit him with stones.
When Bhaskara Naika screamed for help, his wife Mamata, who was in a house nearby, tried to intervene. She was hit with a stone by Pramod Shetty. When both Bhaskara and his wife started to scream, the accused saw Jayaprakash Shetty, Shanakara Shetty, Thimarodi Suresh Naika and others approaching for help. The accused stopped the assault and threatened the couple with life. These details are as per the complaint that is filed in the police station by Bhaskara Naika.
Bhaskara Naika got admitted to the hospital on September 2 and filed complaint on September 3. Police are investigating further.
