Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Sep 6: Zameer Ahmed Khan, minister for housing and minority welfare, who is on a tour of Dakshina Kannada, paid surprise visit to post-metric hostel for minority boys and was furious on seeing the pathetic standard at the facility.

Minister Rahim Khan and Nasir Ahmed, political secretary of chief minister Siddaramaiah also accompanied Zameer. They observed that cleanliness including the maintenance of toilets was not up to the mark.

The inmates of the hostel complained that the quality of food is worst. They said that they are not given food in accordance with the chart. Chicken meat which needs to be given once a week is provided only once in 15 days.

The boys said that bed sheets are not given since five years. Pillows are not provided and no one takes care about them.

Zameer, who was furious on the allegations, immediately ordered spot suspension of taluk extension officer Manjunath. He also asked to serve notice to DMO Jinendra and warden Ashok.

Just check the accounts for purchases of items for the hostel and everything will be crystal clear.... All are hand in glove in purchases which are beyond public purview often... Easiest place for corruption is in tenders for purchases and that's where most money of the govt is gone to conscience-less officials.... zameer himself might be a part of such exercises on many occasions...
