Six Killed as Bus Caught in Flash-flood

Jammu, Aug 11 (IANS): At least six people were killed when a passenger bus got caught in a flash-flood in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua area Thursday morning, police said.

Three people received injuries in the incident. The ill-fated bus had started its journey from Haanpur, abut 100 km northeast of Jammu early Thursday, when it was caught in the swirling waters.

"The bus was on its way from Mahanpur to Jammu. The bus was not overloaded as there were only 12-15 passengers in the bus, but the rest is a matter of investigation," said Senior Superintendent of Police, Kathua, Jagdish Lal Sharma.

The entire Jammu region was Thursday lashed by heavy rains, disrupting normal life.
