Mangalore, Aug 11:
While at the state level the Lokayukta led by Justice Shivraj Patil has been busy going after former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, it is, at the same time, cracking the whip on corrupt officials at local levels too.

Not the one to take time to settle down in office, Lokayukta Patil has been taking his duties seriously right from day one amid a corrupt political system.

On Thursday August 11, Lokayukta sleuths in the city caught assistant commercial tax officer Dhiranna Naik and accountant Narasimha Rao red-handed at the former's residence in Karangalpady here.

The Lokayukta team acted on the information provided by Mohammed, who was being victimised by the tax officials.

Mohammed had approached Naik to avail the H-form which provides sales tax exemption on export of commadities, but Naik and Rao demanded a bribe of Rs 3 lac from him. After much negotiations they finally agreed on Rs 1.5 lac.

The Lokayukta team then laid a trap, and caught them red-handed while Mohammed pretended to pay them the money. Naik, who panicked at the sight of the Lokayukta officials, tried to save whatever he could and threw a bundle of notes on to the tiled roof of the house.

Nonetheless, the lokayukta team led by SP Jagamayyanawar and DYSP Girijesh seized Rs 1.5 lac which was given as bribe.

    Aren't we all hypocrites?
Everybody seems to be shouting from their roof tops that we should support Anna Hazare in his fight against corruption and are crying foul against the politicians.
Once in a blue moon we have someone like Mr.Mohammed complaining to lokayukta against some bribe demanding official. If all were sincere in their effort to eradicate corruption, we could have had a minimum of 10 high ranked govt. officials in the lokayukta net every single day in Mangalore alone.

All the Corrupt officials should be treated like a Thief, There is no difference between looting money and bribery. All the officials are need to be sacked from the JOB permanently & put them behind the bars in order to get improvement in the system. Unless these officials get the fear of loss of JOB, and Imprisonment, there wont be change in the system. whatever the ride may be these bribery case keep on running. For Example:Any one go to the Registration office and stand for one Hour and see how much Bribe will be collected in just one house in Registration office by all the Staffs. I think its a HIGH time all the mangaloreans should stand together and Support Anna Hazare's Fast in Mangalore in front of DC office on August 16. I will be there.. Will You all Join Me.. ?

Excellent job done by lokayukta. Keep it up. Atleast now or then give visit to MUDA office in mangalore. There you will find big crocodiles, who are working under guidence and supported by former district incharge minister Krishna Palemar. For convertion of converted land to single site one has to fetch thounsands of rupees as bribes to these sharks.

Hey Friend AMAR NATHAL, why do you torture already bleeding Nagesh Nayak? He has no words to utter now as his prediction that Yeddyurappa will rule Karnataka and complete his term of 5 years has been doomed. Lokayukta must also raid land registration offices where there is terrible corruption. Look at Mangalore, Mysore and Bangalore Land Registration offices and Land demarking offices, they are all like hugry dogs and tigers pounce on poeple who come to register their lands.

Apart from huge Government fees, people have to feed these greedy officers, who work so cunningly that they have "bribe squads" take money on their behalf, so that even the most sophisticated Lokayukta Team will be put to shame because of their modernized hitech ways of taking bribe. Who will liberate us from such hungry animals? Jai Hoo Doddanna Damaskatte Abudhabi

Its a good trend that corruption is being highlighted and some action is taken.
Its not only the CM's and highranking officers are to be punished, if corrupt, it should reach down to the policeman on the street and peon in the office.
As Narayan Murthy of Infosys said, bribe-giver should not be prosecuted, if caught, its only the bribe taker should be punished, then there will be more complaints from the wronged people to ACB or Lokayuktas.

You are in an ideal world where BJP would be free from corruption. We need more policing of BJP than your Italian Amma's govt. Wake up from your stubborn slumber. If you want to!
