Mangaluru, Sep 7: Deputy Commissioner Mullai Mugilan has ordered the closure of liquor shops in the vicinity and surroundings wherever Krishna Janmastami celebrations that include the Mosaru Kudike utsava and the procession are being held as part of the religious rituals and festivities which will be witnessed by thousands of devotees.
The DC's September 6 order covers areas that come under the Mangaluru police commissionerate limits and Dakshina Kannada (DK) district rural limits following a request made to this effect by the superintendent of police.
The closure of liquor shops will cover Kankanady Valencia junction, surroundings of Bunts Hostel, Kumpala in Ullal police limits and surroundings of Talapady.
On September 7, the order on closure of liquor shops in surroundings of Attavar Katte that include Urwa Store Junction, Ashoknagar Junction, Urwa ground, Bokkapattna Junction, surroundings of Kadri Kambala such as Mallikatte, Vamanjoor and Thiruvail will remain in force.
Besides, selling of liquor is prohibited in Maroli, Kulshekar Chowki, Sudarshan Nagar Pajiru, Asaigoli, Nettilapadavu, Thokottu, lower Saigoli, lower Talapady, Panjimogaru Junction, Kavoor, Moodushedde Junction, Kunjathbail, Kuloor, Pakshikere, Attur and Moodbidri. Liquor shops in Surathkal Idya Kulai, Jokatte, Kalavaru, Krishnapura-Katipalla Chitrapura and Mukka Vataara as shops have been ordered to down their shutters.
Besides, in Dakshina Kannada police limits liquor shops have been directed to close between September 7 and 9 in various parts of Bantwal city, Bantwal rural, Puttur town and village, Uppinangady, Sullia and Bellare where Krishna Janmastami celebrations and Mosaru Kudike utsava are being held.
