Beijing, Aug 12 (IANS): An earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale hit near Japan's east coast of Honshu island Friday, Xinhua reported.
The quake struck at 06.22 (GMT), the US Geological Survey said.
Its depth of 38.00 km, was initially determined to be at 36.9986 degrees north latitude and 141.0803 degrees east longitude
