Mangalore: 'Vishwa Konkani Divas' to be Celebrated on August 20

Mangalore, Aug 12: The first ever general body meeting of the Global Konkani Organization (Jagatik Konkani Sanghattan), will be held on August 20 at Kalangann, Shaktinagar here, at 10 am. This was announced by Eric Ozario, convenor, at a press conference held here on Thursday August 11.
Representatives of over 100 Konkani-related organizations from all over the world are expected to take part in the meeting. At 5.30 pm on the same day, Vishwa Konkani Divas celebrations will be organized at the IT block hall of St Aloysius College here.
Noted psychiatrist and author of a number of useful works, Dr K A Ashok Pai, will announce the founding of the global level Konkani organization. Noted music director, Hamsalekha, will participate as a guest.
Folk dances by well-known troupes, brass band, and a mini drama, will form part of the cultural programmes to be presented on the occasion. Ozario said that Mandd Sobhann has taken the initiative for the formation of this global level Konkani organization with the aim of bringing all the Konkani cultural, social, and literary organizations and institutions spread over the world under a single umbrella.
Louis J Pinto, Stany Alvares, Arun Raj Rodrigues, and Ronny Crasta were present at the press conference.
