Mangalore: Budding Artists have Gala Time at Sri Chakrapani Children's Fest

Mangalore, Aug 12: Nearly a hundred kids tried their artistic skills at the south-India level Children's Art Fest-2011 organised by Sri Chakrapani Fine Arts and Educational Trust at Deepa Comforts here on Friday August 12.
Former finance minister Janardhan Poojary inaugurated the competitions. Chairman, managing director of AJ Institution and Hospital A J Shetty presided over the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering Poojary gave examples of famous artists like M F Hussain and Ravi Verma and urged the students to take inspiration from them.
CEO of Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat K N Vijayaprakash and renowned artist K P Shenoy were the chief guests. K P Shenoy said that a child's art was pure and divine, and not restricted by any barrier. Children should be encouraged to develop their aesthetic senses and interest towards art, he added.
The concluding ceremony was blessed by Swami Arya Renukananda.
Managing director of Hotel Deepa Comforts, Urmila Ramesh Kumar, presided over the concluding ceremony and prize distribution programme.
MLA U T Khader and trustee of Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat, D K Chowta were the chief guests.
The concluding ceremony was followed by a cultural programme.
As many as 92 out of the 108 participants selected from six states including Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh showcased their artistic talents.

LKG – Class 1
S S Malarkavi from Chennai (first prize), Shriya B Karnataka (second prize) and Niveditha B Rao Karnataka (third prize).
Class II to IV
Shayak Ghosh from Kerala (first prize), Anvesha Jain Karnataka (second prize) and Mehak Khemka Tamil Nadu (third prize).
Class V to VII
Srihari Ramdas from Kerala (first prize), A K Bhuvanesh from Tamil Nadu (second prize) and Sanjay Shastry from Karnataka (third prize).
Class VIII – X
Salvya S Raj from Kerala (first prize), Amaldev Nambiar K P from Kerala (second prize) and Akhil Krishna Jayanti from Kerala (third prize).
Class XI-XII
Rahul S from Karnataka (first prize), Pancham from Karnataka (second prize) and Kristin Francis from Karnataka (third prize).
Consolation prizes:
