Maoists Abduct Three Villagers Ahead of I-Day

Patna, Aug 14 (IANS): Nearly 50 armed Maoists stormed a village in Bihar's Gaya district and abducted three residents Sunday, a day ahead of Independence Day, police said.

"Maoist guerrillas abducted three people from Parsawa village," a police officer in Gaya, about 100 miles from here, said.

According to police, nearly 50 armed Maoists stormed into the village and abducted the three villagers at gunpoint.

Police suspect that Maoists abducted villagers to create terror ahead of Independence Day. Maoists have urged locals to boycott celebrations.
