Bengaluru, Sep 16: A bike rider was shocked as he saw a box of new currency notes on the seat of his bike which was kept in the parking lot. Without thinking for a moment, he escaped with the box.

The box contained Rs 94 lac. Now the youth is in police custody along with the stolen money. Varun Gowda, resident of Srinagar in the city, is the youth who is in police custody. He was working in the credit card section of a private bank. He could have returned the money honestly. But greed overtook his senses and he has unnecessarily got a case filed on him.

On September 6, Pramod, a resident of Chandra Layout, had gone to a lawyer’s office with a box containing Rs 94 lac for purchase of a plot. As there was some problem with his car door opening, he kept the box on the Activa scooter that was nearby. Later, he went to the lawyer’s office and forgot to take the box. As he returned from the office of lawyer, the box and the scooter were not seen in the parking lot.

Chandra Layout police registered a case and saw the footage of more than 300 CCTVs and came to know that it was Varun Gowda, who had taken the box with cash.

When police took Varun into custody and searched his home, the box with Rs 94 lac was found. It is said that Varun was shocked as he got such a huge amount and was not knowing what to do with it.

Chandra Layout police are investigating further.

The person who left the money on the scooter should be booked for being so careless. Looks like he is a bigwig with tonnes of black money, that he doesn't care for.

The box was on the youth's bike. He should have asked. If he didn't ask also why did the police arrest him? According to me, he was not at fault. He took what was on his bike. Greedy yes, maybe. But in the situation India is in, the unemployment, the difficulty in employment etc. And the exploitation of an employee for a very low salary, I think this would be anyone if not for this guy.

How is one allowed to move around with cash, why no investigation on that, who is giving and who is receiving it? If an account holder with drawn more than 2 lakh of his/her own money the bank still charges a fee and this guy with 94 lakhs ??? something not right.

For that matter any other person would have done the same thing, finding such a big amount unattended; on the contrary, the guy who left the amount appears to be having lots of easy money for him to to be so careless with nearly 1cr in cash!!
