Mangaluru: Young girl dies, another injured in bike-car collision at Mulky

Mangaluru, Sep 16: A 21-year-old girl lost her life in an accident while another youth seriously injured in a bike-car collision here at Mulky Vijaya Sannidhi junction late night on Friday September 15.

The deceased is identified as Preethika Shetty (21) from Kasargod. Manvith Raj Shetty (21) from Balepuni suffered injuries.

Preethika was riding pillion. She was on her way towards Mangaluru from Udupi. The car which collided against the bike was on its way from Kinnigoli to Mulky.

The accident caused traffic congestion at the spot. ACP traffic Geetha Kulkarni and inspector Sharif visited the spot.

Locals were furious over the unscientific work on the four-lane road national highway that has caused several accidents and claimed lives.

    The deceased is/was a my colleague's best friend and very dear to her. They shared alot of childhood and college memories together. She received the shock of her life after her friends passing. The CCTV footage shows clearly the bike over speeding the dangerous inter-junction. these are the crossroads where there lies a very thin line between heaven and earth for bike riders. Not to point any fingers, but our sisters are so hardworking and earning bread for their families, they should be wise and not befriend these useless, jobless men, who only will be liability to them in their lives. I have seen it so many times. Either in the name of love violence or accidents, this will be their fate. These useless boys are only fit for joining unwanted organisations or cricket clubs as opposed to our girls, who work in Govt jobs, UPS related sectors and are the pride of our country. It it time our girls, stand up and separate themselves for liabilities.

    In most cases - these so-called "learned" bike riders drive as if they are driving on Formula 1 Grand Prix Racing Tracks. They think they own the road and behave as if the road is their father's property. They give a damn to the general public and are a utter nuisance to themselves in the process causing great inconvenience to the public transport.

    Fully agree. Two wheeler riders are the most risky on road specially on speed highways. They should be much careful than other vehicles. But most of the two wheeler riders think they are king on road inspite of seeing so many casualty on roads on a daily basis.
