Beltangady: Truck plunges into 100-foot gorge at Charmadi Ghat

Beltangady, Sep 17: A truck plunged into a 100-foot-deep gorge near Somanakadu Falls on Charmadi Ghat On Friday night.

The incident was discovered on Saturday.

The truck was transporting water bottles from Puttur to Chitradurga. Due to heavy fog on the road, the driver veered off and struck the roadside retainer wall, causing the vehicle to tumble into the gorge. Fortunately, it became entangled in a tree, preventing a major tragedy.

Both the truck driver and cleaner sustained minor injuries.

The Bankal station police and local residents assisted in recovering the truck from the gorge.
